About

Outerspace is the two-man duo of Rappers Planetary and Crypt the Warchild. Known for their rugged, one-two combination of tight, rhythmic punches and precision vocal deliveries, Outerspace has been a mainstay of the Philadelphia Hip Hop scene for close to two decades now. The core has always been the strong, familial bond between Crypt and Planet which is evident in their almost-telepathic verbal reciprocity. Through three full length albums (Blood and Ashes, Blood Brothers and God’s Fury) and a steady string of singles and mix-tapes, Outerspace have attained perhaps the most elusive achievement in Hip Hop: consistency.

Outerspace’s lineage traces back throughout the respective childhoods of Plan and Crypt: both MCs have been rocking together since their pre-teen days. Born in the same North Philadelphia neighborhood, their two families have been entwined since before the two rappers were born. As kids they ran the same streets, bought the same records and thought of nothing else but rhyming. Both grew up on Hip Hop culture of the 80s and 90s and its heavy influence is easily felt every time the brothers-in-law put pen to paper.

The Outerspace journey began in the early 90s: street ciphers and open mics were the testing ground. Local spots like Philadelphia’s Footwork saw the two MCs raise themselves from novice poets to full-fledged Rappers and through a fortuitous encounter with Jedi Mind Tricks frontman Vinnie Paz an alliance was formed that still remains strong to this day. Outerspace’s first official record, We Lyve was released on Paz’s own Superegular Recordings imprint and the JMT/Outerspace/Q-Dimension union was forged. Early work saw Space collaborate with long-time family member DJ SAT-ONE, Clockwork and Boston’s 7L. Eventually Superegular folded and when Jedi Mind Tricks made the jump to a major label they were adamant that Outerspace come along. Once again the two groups were label-mates and became stronger for it. Plan and Crypt found themselves linked up with heavy hitters like Sheek Louch, Sadat X, Immortal Technique and German producer Shuko along with fam like DJ Kwestion, 7L and Scott Stallone. A slew of tours followed, showcasing the inimitable potency of what Crypt and Planet could do in a live setting. As tight as Outerspace is in the booth they’re truest nature shines through on a stage. Outerspace also became part of the core foundation of the revamped super-group Army of the Pharaohs, a powerful unit consisting of some of the most well-known names in underground Hip Hop: Vinnie Paz, Apathy, Celph Titled, 7L & Esoteric, Block McCloud, Doap Nixon, Reef the Lost Cauze and other highly respected producers and MCs.

Now Outerspace is set to release their latest LP entitled Brother’s Keeper on the brand new Enemy Soil Records label. The record is in the same vein of what people have come to expect from this hard-working duo, though Outerspace is very careful not to become complacent. According to Planetary Brother’s Keeper will be taking it to another level. They plan to bring something different to the game this time around. As usual the squad represents deep with Crypt’s brother King Syze and other members of the Pharaohs clique lending their flows to several tracks as well as newcomer V-Zilla representing the Texas connection.
